| Pixma Ink Ink goes to the core of quality photo printing. It can make between prints that maintain a vivid lustre for a lifetime and those that fade easily, between vibrant or dull colours , between pin sharp or blurry photo prints. That's why Canon spares no expense or effort in developing its Pixma inks and maintaining systems that deliver the superior prints your photos deserve. PIXMA Photo Printers and Photo All-in-Ones are very demanding when it comes to ink and that's why its recommended that genuine canon inks are used: * The inks must remain stable during operation, since they are instantaneously heated to high temperatures * They must be capable of forming microscopic ink droplets - in some cases more than two million times smaller than a raindrop - without clogging the tiny ink nozzles in the print head. This is why Canon's inks are manufactured in a controlled environment free of the tiniest of dust particles. * The inks must retain a perfect spherical shape when expelled so that they are always placed on the paper with accuracy and precision Canon's Pixma inks have been developed and manufactured to meet each of these demands, print after print. All photographs fade; inkjet printed photographs are no exception. Genuine Canon ink is engineered to minimise the impact of gases and light in the air and are manufactured to the highest environmental and safety standards. To ensure a correct colour gamut, the density of Canon inks is minutely controlled, resulting in the colour mix being optimal and the photo prints being vibrant. Also, almost all PIXMA products feature ChromaLife100, the system in which the inks, paper and print head work together to provide you with beautiful, long-lasting prints. Paper is important too * For photos that last a lifetime * For instant-dry photo prints * For the perfect gloss Genuine Canon photo paper meets those needs. To protect the Pixma ink from environmental factors that may cause fading, the papers have a micro-porous coating that locks the ink below the surface. The result is longer lasting prints. In order that excess ink is not left on the paper's surface, the micro-porous coating quickly absorbs the ink delivered from the fast firing FINE print head, leading to instant-dry prints. To avoid interference with the top glossy layer, the micro-porous film on Canon glossy papers locks the ink deeper below the surface than other papers do, ensuring a ‘glossy' finish always is glossy.
